Little Willows Pre-School opened in 1998. It operates from two open-plan rooms and an office in a building adjoining Whitnash Primary School. This provision is managed and led by Mrs Sue Harris.

Little Willows offers an outstanding early years care and education for children aged 2 years 6 months, to 4 years.  The pre-school has attained a high profile within Early Years education and is frequently visited by practitioners from other centres as a centre of "outstanding practice".  It offers stimulating, interesting and exciting play based activities within a safe, welcoming and nurturing environment.  Children are promoted to become independent and confident with high self esteem.  They are highly valued as individuals and are cared for with concern and expertise.

An exciting new initiative in the pre-school's evolution is the adoption of the Reggio and Montessori educational approaches which enhance the Early Years Foundation Stage to provide the highest quality early years education.

Right at the heart of the Reggio approach is the very powerful image adults have of children.  Every child is seen as strong, confident and competent.  Strong children have their own ideas, express opinions, make independent choices and are able to play and work well with others.

Montessori is an approach to early education that focuses on the immense capacity of children to absorb information when given the freedom and independence  to learn at their own pace.  What makes the Montessori approach different, and what makes it work so well, is that it is based on a deep understanding of the way children learn - through choosing, trying and doing themselves.
