Welcome to Holly Class

Hot Seating the Troll

Some of the children dressed up as the troll from 'The 3 Billy Goats Gruff' story and the class had to ask him questions. Questions included, 'Where do you live? Why are you so mean? What is your favourite food? What do you like to play with? What is your favourite size Billy Goat Gruff to eat?)

We made Story Maps!

The whole class using actions to retell stories, and in groups working collaboratively to make story maps and using the story maps to retell the story.

Reception have been taking  advantage of the sun and have been learning about shadows and how they move during the day.

Look What We've Been Doing ...

Photos include dough disco (helps develop their fine and gross motor dexterity, hand-eye coordination), practising tracing over chalk patterns with a cotton bud dipped in water (fine motor control), using mops to trace over chalk patterns outside to develop gross motor skills, pushing cars down a ramp to see which number it lands on a number line, and picking a number card and building a wall for Humpty using that many blocks.

A Visit from Warwick Hospital Medical Students

We had a visit from Warwick hospital medical students who voluntarily run 'The Teddy Bear Hospital'. We had to bring in our own 'poorly' teddies to visit the Teddy bear doctors. We had to write a prescription for our poorly teddies and learnt how to put a bandage on them. We also did some exercise with our teddies and also learnt about the importance of healthy eating and about the bones in the human body.

STEM Challenge

The children had the tricky challenge of building a 3D castle for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle using marshmallows and cocktail sticks. The children rose to the challenge and created some fantastic castles!
