The Boy With The Bronze Axe, Kathleen Fidler.
This is the story of life nearly 3,000 years ago. Kali and Brockan are in trouble. They have been using their stone axes to chip limpets off the rocks, but they've gone too far out and find themselves trapped by the tides. Then, an unexpected rescuer appears, a strange boy in a strange boat, carrying a strangely sharp axe of a type they have never seen before.
The Hundred-Mile-An-Hour Dog, Jeremy Strong
Streaker is no ordinary dog. She's a rocket on four legs with a woof attached, and Trevor has got until the end of the holidays to train her. If he fails, he'll lose his bet with horrible Charlie Smugg, and something very, very yucky involving frogspawn will happen...
Stig of the Dump, Clive King
Barney is a solitary little boy, given to wandering off by himself. One day he is lying on the edge of a disused chalk-pit when it gives way and he lands in a sort of cave.
Here he meets 'somebody with a lot of shaggy hair and two bright black eyes' wearing a rabbit skin and speaking in grunts. He names him Stig.
Of course nobody believes Barney when he tells his family all about Stig, but for Barney cave-man Stig is totally real.
All About the Stone Age
Year 3 have been finding out all about how the Stone Age people used to get food. We looked into Hunting and Gathering and we wrote a non-chronological report based on what we found out. Here are some examples of the wonderful writing we have produced.
Magnets and Compasses
Year 3 have been in the science room investigating magnets and compasses. They have been investigating the poles of a magnet, looking at which poles attract and which repel.
