WellComm

The aim of WellComm is to help staff to identify students who may have speech, language

and social communication needs and minimise any identified difficulties

through implementing appropriate interventions.

To help with these objectives, the WellComm Toolkit can be used to:

  • Track pupil progress.
  • Identify areas of concern in speech, language and social communication in order to ensure targeted school intervention.
  • Provide information and ideas for supporting a student’s communication needs within the classroom.
  • To enhance communication skills.
  • To help signpost pupils who are identified as having communication difficulties to relevant services e.g. Speech and Language Therapy.

Children are identified as suitable for support by the class teacher, then a 1:1 screening is conducted

to devise a targeted intervention programme with objectives.

Children are assessed and reviewed on a termly basis.
