Autumn Term Music
Year 6 Band
A small group of dedicated musicians have been rehearsing at lunchtimes and are looking forward to performing in the Christmas concert. In addition to learning popular songs such as Flowers by Miley Cyrus we have been having a go at song writing!
Music Makers
This band from Years 3 and 4 rehearse after school for an hour on Tuesdays. Members have a chance to practice on guitars, electric bass guitar, djembes, keyboard, drum kit and use microphones for vocals. The band have been learning popular songs such as Twist and Shout and Believer.
Rock Band
Rock band consists of pupils in Years 5 and 6. They rehearse for an hour after school on Wednesdays. Pupils can experiment on different band instruments including guitars, keyboard, drums and vocals. Other instruments are welcome if pupils are learning them outside of school. They are currently learning Green Green Grass by George Ezra.
Year 4 Ukuleles
All Year 4 pupils are currently learning to play the ukulele as a whole class. We have been developing melody playing as well as playing chords and singing popular songs such as Riptide by Vance Joy.
Year 5 Guitars
Continuing on from a year of ukulele lessons, the Year 5s will be transferring their new skills onto guitars. Pupils will be improvising, reading music, playing melodies and strumming chords.
Years 5 and 6 Choir Club
Year 5 and 6have been busy practising every Monday after school for the nationwide singing event - Young Voices, which will be held on 12th January 2024. Within these rehearsals, children have been learning different breathing techniques for singing and learning accompanying choreography moves. The choir has also been assisting with new songs in the KS2 singing assembly.
Years 3 and 4 Junior Choir
Years 3 and 4 meet every other Thursday morning and this is led by Jeremy Dibb of Warwickshire Sings. The group have been practicing listening skills, rhythm and singing techniques for learning 2- and 3-part songs for a big end of year performance with lots of other school choirs at Warwick Hall in June. We also took part in this event last year as well!
Year 3 Music
The children have recently performed "Let Your Spirit Fly" (singing and playing the glockenspiels) at school in assembly to KS1 and 2. Their learning focussed on singing, playing the glockenspiels and learning some musical notation. The children are now preparing for their Christmas Play!
Year 6 Music
The children have also recently taken part in a school performance to KS1 and 2 of "Happy" (singing in 2-parts & glockenspiels). Learning has focussed on singing, glockenspiels and learning some musical notation. The class has also been rehearsing for the Christmas Carol Concert at St Margaret's Church.
