General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

GDPR aims to strengthen the protection of personal data in light of significant technological changes since the original Data Protection directive in 1995.  As a school, we are continually working to ensure on-going compliance across the six data protection principles so that data within school is:

  • processed fairly, lawfully and in a transparent manner.
  • used for specific, explicit and legitimate purposes.
  • used in a way that is adequate, relevant and limited.
  • accurate and kept up to date.
  • kept no longer than is necessary.
  • processed in a manner that ensures appropriate security of the personal data.

Privacy Statement

Everybody has a right to have their

personal information kept confidential,

this includes the children who attend

Whitnash Primary School and their families,

staff, governors and visitors.

The school is committed

to protecting everybody's privacy.

These rights are also part of the law,

the General Data Protection Regulation.

Why does the school have to issue this

Privacy Statement?

Whitnash Primary School

is classed as the ‘data controller’.

This means we are responsible

for how your personal information

is processed and for what purposes.

The law requires that we must therefore

 keep data (personal information)

confidential and secure.

We must inform everybody

about what data we keep,

why and how we intend

to keep it secure.
