Food Collection

During harvest time pupils from all year groups joined in to collect as much a food as we could for harvest festival. We collected an amazing 412 items to donate to local food banks! Whilst collecting our food we also had an assembly ran by Ben Cook from St Margaret’s church who talked to the children about the importance of giving and how many people benefit from food banks especially this time of year. We were so proud of all the children who were so excited to give food to people who needed it. We hope to continue giving to people in need throughout the year.

Church visit
Throughout the year we are very fortunate that our local church St Margaret’s, welcomes all the children from Whitnash to go and join in with their celebrations. All year groups visited the church last year and this is something we hope to continue each year. Whilst at the church children are able to walk around the church and look at the beautiful features it has to offer and also take part in some celebrations. We are going to be visiting the church for Christmas this year to take part in a carol service.

Gurdwara visit

Year 1 went to visit the Gurdwara in Leamington Spa. The visit was to give the children the experience of looking at where people who believe in Sikhism go to pray as part of our ‘Where is a sacred place’ topic in RE. When we arrived we got shown around some of the prayer rooms which took us by surprise as they were very big! The volunteers there then gave us a lot of information about what the Gurdwara does for the local community and how it provides a shelter and food for lots of people in Leamington. We then went down to the canteen where we were able to try some of the food they eat here and meet the local people. The children really enjoyed the experience and we thank the Gurdwara for being so welcoming to all the children.
